It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year…For Holiday Shopping Insights!

Winter is coming…and with it comes another batch of pre-holiday shopping consumer insights!

Most of us are about ready to stuff the turkey, but holiday shoppers are full flurry ahead with their gift purchases for the upcoming holiday season.

The results of the 2014 Pre-Holiday Buying Intentions Study indicate 7% of consumers are almost finished with their gift purchases, 16% are about halfway through and 25% are just starting to hit the stores for the season. Don’t worry if you haven’t stocked your shelves with holiday cheer, there’s still time! 52% of shoppers have not yet begun shopping this gift-giving season. In fact, 33% of shoppers plan to make purchases after Cyber Monday/Before Christmas.

Sleigh Bells Ring…Are You Listening…

Similar to last year, fashion/apparel purchases top the gift lists at 73%, with electronics and toys adding some weight to the sleigh, 68% and 56% respectively.

When asked what specific brand comes to mind for their holiday shopping wish list, Apple, Samsung, and Dell are among the first to go under the tree.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow…Holiday Discounts!

Is there anyone out there who doesn’t love a good discount? The majority of people want to see those discount offers! 54% of respondents indicated they would be unwilling or somewhat unwilling to buy a product without a discounted price during the holiday season.

Year over year, shoppers make their list and check it twice. And holiday budgets are just as nice…51% of respondents plan to spend about the same as last year. And like last year, Amazon, Walmart and Target make the top destination list. With 36% of respondents indicating that they would do 50% or more of their shopping online through a computer, it’s no wonder Amazon takes the lead with 70% of those holiday shoppers planning purchases with the online retailer in 2014.
